Via FORM Music, the two producers present their new three-part compilation

back to the groove EP cover review

Following M.F.S. Observatory’s immense Headstone EP a few weeks ago, leading French techno label FORM Music now reveals its next musical offering with the announcement of The Reactivitz and Mauro Somm’s stunning “Back To The Groove” EP.

Giving a warm welcome to Mauro Somm for his long-awaited label debut, and The Reactivitz for his third outing (following his 2019 EP “Early Reflections” and his 2018 EP “Seth”) this latest three-part EP is another masterful showcase in diverse and creative soundscapes from the veteran Parisian label, which celebrated its landmark 100th release earlier this year.

Behind every track

Kicking off the package with the uncompromisingly and appropriately named ‘More Bass’, the producers go full throttle from the get-go, amalgamating a strong mix of driving kicks, spoken samples, and exquisitely layered percussion to open their 2022 account on FORM Music in remarkable style.

With no time for rest, the two artists maintain the relentless intensity of the first track on the song ‘Back To The Groove’. Bass and drums are the order of the day and the soundscapes are the backdrop to another impressive multi-layered original production from the newly featured pair.

Last but not least comes the third and final original production on the player with ‘Highspeed’ – building a relentless assortment of undulating basslines, playful synth stabs, and staccato rhythms, to close the EP in an emphatic fashion. Feel free to stream them via Spotify.
