Aphex Twin, Eric Prydz, Bicep, and more than 121 artists will be part of the new edition of the world-renowned Barcelona festival
After an impressive series of shows in 2022 with the presence of renowned figures of the electronic and music scene in general along with more than 122,000 attendees, Sónar Festival 2023 deploys full lineup for the celebration of its 30th anniversary.
The event will take place on June 15, 16, and 17 with its two traditional locations: Sónar by Day to be held at Fira Montjuïc (Avinguda Rius i Taulet, s/n) from Thursday to Saturday of the scheduled date, and Sónar by Night to be held at Fira Gran Via – L’Hospitalet de Llobregat on the proposed Friday and Saturday.
This new edition will feature live performances, art installations, exclusive programs, DJ sets, as well as redesigned spaces, including the expansion and complete remodeling of SonarVillage by Estrella Damm.
Sónar Festival 2023 Lineup
The lineup for the 30th edition will bring together more than 120 live acts and DJ sets led by the influential and cult figure inside and outside of electronic music, Aphex Twin, who returns after 12 years to Sonar. Another producer of stature is Eric Prydz who will bring his HOLO show to the festival.
Other top acts will be sets from Solomun, Amelie Lens, Richie Hawtin, Honey Dijon, The Blessed Madonna, Amelie Lens, Laurent Garnier, and the most acclaimed live act in the UK right now: Bicep.
Experimental electronica addicts will be treated to incredible sets by Oneohtrix Point Never, Max Cooper and Ryoji Ikeda. Packed with diverse styles, performance forms and diversity, the event will also feature Logic1000, MikeQ, SHERELLE x Kode9, Denmark, Eliza Rose, Carista, DnB legend, DJ Marky, Anz, Ahadadream, among others. Sónar+D Shows
Sónar+D will give the public a series of audiovisual shows that will take place on the Complex+D and Stage+D stages, which, during Sónar by Day, will present avant-garde performances by Daito Manabe, Carles Viarnès, Alba G. Corral, Nosaj Thing, Lucrecia Dalt, CLARAGUILAR, among many others.
Sónar Festival: more than just music
Barcelona’s most important meeting of art, music, and digital culture will feature more than a hundred activities during Sónar daily. Talks will address current issues and their impact on people’s lives, artificial intelligence and its effects on society, and the climate emergency.
Under the same techno as the concerts and DJ sets, you can be part of conferences where they will talk about new processes and creative practices in the art industry, as well as being part of master classes for creators, innovation talks, and more.
The presentation of the 2023 edition was accompanied by a visual campaign elaborated with AI for the 30th anniversary of the festival. This intelligence recreated the visual concepts of the last three decades of the festival, generating mixed results that reinforce the history of Sónar through its strong link with innovation.
