Popof and Vezi land on Filth On Acid with “Linear Damage” EP

The two-part piece reflects the essence of illegal raves in France in the 90s

Parisian techno talent has a resume to rival the biggest artists in electronic music. Now, as he looks to add to his already remarkable musical catalog and open his 2023 account in style, Popof teams up with Vezi and they present the “Linear Damage” EP on Filth On Acid.

Co-founder of the iconic underground illegal parties, Heretik System, a collective that organized the first illegal raves in France during the 1990s, joins forces with fellow Parisian Vezi to revisit the sounds of the illegal rave scene in Paris almost three decades ago.

Behind “Linear Damage” EP

An intense, peak-time record, pulsing with frenetic energy throughout its duration, the two-sided cut sees the two Parisian talents construct a gargantuan array of heady kicks, industrial synths, and dark samples as they deliver a titanic release on the label.

Both tracks possess a masterclass in hard, old-school techno inspired by the raw sounds of the 90s, “Linear Damage” is everything we expect and more from two seasoned producers.

Speaking about the production process, POPOF commented:

“This EP marks a return to my roots, musically speaking. This hard techno collaboration is a kind of personal tribute to the free/rave culture that I come from. Vezi is a friend from Paris and we got together to make these two tracks. The result is a mix between the old and the new”.
