  • MUSIC

MDM ranked the single as one of the top 10 tech/house releases of 2022

The long-awaited official music video for the worldwide dance hit “Drugs From Amsterdam” by tech house phenomenon Mau P has just been officially released. The track that swept all the charts, clubs, and festivals, and that we at MDM consider it as one of the top 10 tech/house releases of 2022, now has its own visual version.

Shot in Amsterdam, the artist’s hometown, the two-and-a-half minute video directed by Tommy Reerink, takes you on a journey through the city’s raw and bustling nightlife through the perspective of the unsung heroes of the night: the cab drivers.

The video, which offers a unique insight into what happens after dark at one of the world’s most famous nightclubs, is the perfect accompaniment to the current soundtrack of the global electronic music scene. Watch it below.

Behind ‘Drugs From Amsterdam’

Amsterdam-based producer and DJ Mau P released his first album “Drugs From Amsterdam” in September 2022, signed to Lee Foss’ influential Repopulate Mars label and licensed to Island UK, Republic Records and Virgin Germany.

Since its release, the track has received support from the likes of Tiësto, John Summit, David Guetta, DJ Snake, Diplo, Dom Dolla and Wade. Combining infectious vocals with a deep, dirty bassline and the most rebellious of drops, “Drugs From Amsterdam” is a dancefloor weapon that has taken the world by storm.

The viral hit dominated festivals and sets last year, and has been hailed as a 2022 favorite by the likes of Billboard Dance and Beatport, as well as featuring a remix by respected techno artist Reinier Zonneveld.

Regarding this launch, Mau P commented:

“It’s amazing to finally have a visual version of Drugs From Amsterdam and even more amazing to have it produced and directed by one of my closest friends Tommy Reerink! I believe the video really shows the chaos that the Amsterdam nightlife can be and I love the idea of it being shown through a unique perspective like the taxi driver. Obviously a massive shout out to MC Stretch for his impeccable acting skills behind the wheel.”
