"EVOLVE": Sub Focus' first album in ten years

Nick Dowma’s third album will feature top collaborations with Pola & Bryson, CamelPhat, AR/CO, and more

Marking a new stage as one of the top players in drum and bass today, Sub Focus announces the arrival of his third studio album “EVOLVE”, the British producer’s first LP in ten years to be released on May 12th.

This new story began in May 2022 when the producer deleted all posts from his Instagram account and began sharing unreleased material. Starting with ‘It’s Time’, some singles from his upcoming album have already been released, including ‘Off The Ground’, ‘Ready To Fly’ and ‘Vibration’.

“ENVOLVE” will encompass 14 spectacular singles and will feature top-notch collaborations within and outside the DnB spectrum such as AR/CO, Dimension, Pola & Bryson, CamelPhat, LOWES, RHODES, Culture Shock, Hayla, among many others.

20 years making history

It has only been 20 years since the drum n’ bass superstar decided to start a new chapter in his history. From an up-and-coming artist to a global icon of the genre, Nick Douwma (aka Sub Focus) has taken his style and creations to every corner of the world.

In 2003 he debuted on the Frequency label of Andy C’s legendary label, RAM Records, and then made a big push in 2005 with ‘X Ray’. In 2009 he released the eponymous album that earned him his first hits. In 2013, he would achieve worldwide recognition with ‘Torus’, his second LP.

Since then, he has remixed for electronic icons such as The Prodigy, deadmau5, and Basement Jaxx, to name a few, as well as played at the most important festivals and clubs on the planet such as Tomorrowland, The Warehouse Project, EDC Las Vegas, Let It Roll, Rampage, among many others.

Behind each “EVOLVE” element

‘It’s Time’ opens the doors to the new world with a voice coming from Gene Farris that prepares us for all that is to come. Awarded as the best song of 2022 by Drum&Bass Arena, comes ‘Off The Ground’, a powerful single full of rhythmic beats and distortions accompanied by an unknown voice that pierces the soul.

The journey continues with a new collaboration between Nick and Dimension. After the multi-golden single “Desiree”, they now join forces with ‘Ready To Fly’, a half-trance track that features pure organ house drops alongside scratchy synths as lead melodies that produce timeless dance moments. The single features their addictive hardcore version.

The latest track to be released comes from AR/CO. “Vibration”, not only exposes the Brit’s drumming skills but also creates vocal anthems that flame flares of emotions that make you believe again in yourself and what you are pursuing. “Find your space in the dark / you can hear our new vibration”, are just some of the phrases that whisper to you, and make you wake up your conscience.
